Blackjack Underperformed To Baccarat In Indiana Last Year

  • Baccarat proved to be the stronger draw for Indiana casino players in fiscal year 2025.
  • It attracted more wagering activity than blackjack despite operating on far fewer tables.

INDIANAPOLIS – According to the Indiana Gaming Commission’s FY2025 Annual Report, baccarat players wagered $639.3 million across just 78 tables, surpassing blackjack’s $634.9 million spread over 264 tables. That means baccarat generated an average drop of $8.2 million per unit—more than triple blackjack’s $2.4 million.

The disparity underscores baccarat’s role as a high-stakes game. With fewer tables, it still attracted more betting volume than legal blackjack, which has long been the staple table game across U.S. casinos.

The trend was most pronounced at Northern Indiana casinos:

  • Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana: Blackjack’s $105.8 million was a third of Baccarat’s drop of $351.9 million. On a per-table basis, baccarat averaged $14.1 million in wagers, nearly triple blackjack’s $4.8 million.
  • Horseshoe Hammond: Baccarat’s $85.8 million drop exceeded blackjack’s $60.4 million, despite blackjack having more than twice the tables.
  • Ameristar East Chicago: Blackjack’s $47.8 million was outpaced by Baccarat, which posted $67.4 million in drop.

By contrast, at Caesars Southern Indiana, blackjack held the edge, with a $97.1 million drop compared to baccarat’s $45.0 million.

Broader Picture

Across all Indiana blackjack casinos, total table game drop reached nearly $2.0 billion. Blackjack matched baccarat at about 32% of the drop but required 44% of the tables to do so, compared to 13% for baccarat.

The figures suggest that baccarat is Indiana’s most efficient table game, while blackjack remains more broadly played but generates lower stakes per table.
