HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A man was apprehended on Saturday for stealing an Elvis Presley jacket from the Seminole Hard Rock Casino and Hotel in Hollywood, Florida. The arrest warrant shows the man stole the jacket on Feb. 14, 2023.

Christopher Owen, a 50-year-old man from Pompano Beach, Florida, was caught on surveillance video committing the Valentine’s Day theft. The Florida blackjack spot now makes headlines for a unique casino theft story.

Jacket Estimated At $11,670, Culprit Apprehended

Owen went into a roped-off section of the to approach the mannequin with the Elvis jacket. Surveillance footage shows Owen handing the jacket to a woman and they both left the casino.

Not to mention, Owen first used his driver’s license to request a cash advance at the casino before stealing the jacket. It’s unknown whether he played any blackjack or just needed cash, but this is how he was identified for the crime.

Although the casino is known for its daily $5 blackjack promotion, it also has a decorated rock-and-roll collection. The Elvis Presley jacket is one of the many pieces of rock memorabilia at the casino and valued at $11,670.

That’s a pretty expensive Valentine’s Day gift, and now over a year later, Owen pays the price. The Pompano Beach man was booked into jail on Saturday with a grand theft charge.

Reports from local news WLPG Local 10 in Miami don’t explain if the casino got the jacket returned or not.
