- There are spotters and big player positions when playing blackjack.
- Kevin Spacey’s movie “21” is an example of blackjack team play.
LAS VEGAS – One of the common strategies when playing blackjack is the “team play” strategy that uses two main positions that work together to know when the best time to play at a specific table is.
Those two legal blackjack positions are referred to as “Spotters” and “Big Players,” and they are pretty self explanatory.
Starting with the “spotters,” they make the initial move to a blackjack table and keep count of the cards while betting the table minimum each hand. Once the spotter gets to a favorable position in the count, they’ll signal the “big player” to take a seat at the table.
Once at the table, the “spotter” will use signals to relay the message to the “big player,” and they’ll take advantage of the count from there.
Moving on to the “big player” position, where signals from the spotter are everything. The “big player” will wait near the table where the spotter is sitting and look for the signal to join the table.
Once at the table, they’ll wait for another signal from the spotter, which will let them know what the current count is. They’ll play with the favorable count until the spotter gives them another signal that the deck is losing value.
Example Of Blackjack Team Play
One of the best examples of team play in blackjack that uses the same terminology in the blackjack movie “21” starring Kevin Spacey.
The movie is based around counting cards in the team play system, where they use both the spotter and big player positions.
