- DraftKings is expected to expand to Alberta when the province legalizes its iGaming market in July.
- The popular sportsbook and gaming platform has been active in Ontario since 2022.
ALBERTA – DraftKings announced its plans to launch its online sportsbook and casino in Alberta in July, expanding its foothold in Canada.
It would become the second province to have DraftKings available, following in the footsteps of Ontario, where DraftKings has been live since May of 2022.
The government already announced its plans to add online Canadian blackjack, citing the success of Ontario as a key motivator in the decision.
As it currently stands, the only legal blackjack available online in Alberta is offered by Play Alberta, an online gaming platform run by the government. The new laws expected to be passed in July will allow for an open gaming market, which they hope will help to generate more revenue.
Legal blackjack games are one of DraftKings’ biggest draws outside of their popular sportsbook, offering multiple variations and live dealer games. After launching their sportsbook in 2012, DraftKings Casino officially launched in New Jersey back in 2018.
